A Big Thank You Empty Re: A Big Thank You

I'll tell you here what I've been saying ingame, so you will have somewhere to come look when you forget. This is just a quick run-down, and by no means complete, but it should help you some.

Spec:
Before you go any further, you need to decide what spec you want to play. Pallys can play 3 different specs: Tank (Protection), DPS (Retribution), and Heals (Holy). Each will require a talent set and a different set of gear. Pick one, set your talents up for that spec, and work on gear for that spec. You can worry about dual spec'ing later. If you need to look at some talent builds and attack rotations, http://paladinbuilds.com/ should be of great use to you.

Emblems:
You need emblems. Emblems should be your primary reason for playing the game right now. Queue for random heroics everytime you log in, and when you leave the dungeon, queue again. Drops are nice for gear but they are random and you have to win rolls; emblems are a gauranteed way to get great tier gear for your class. The Tier 9 "Turalyon" set (ilevel 245) is what you should focus on getting first, from the blacksmith shop in Dal (the red-headed Dwarf sells it). Check out the emblem cost, then start saving.

Gear:
For a tank, you will want to focus on pieces with Defense, Dodge, Parry, and Block attributes. You need a minimum of 535 Defense to tank heroics (540 for Raids). By nature these pieces will have more Stamina than any other piece, but you will still want to gem Stamina.
For DPS, you will stack Strength. Melee classes have a 1:1 ratio of Strength to Attack Power, so by stacking Strength you will increase AP. The advantage of stacking Strength instead of AP is that Kings will buff your Strength to give you more AP. Kings will not buff AP at all. Because of this, ALWAYS STACK YOUR STAT, NOT YOUR ATTRIBUTE. Hit Rating is your next most wanted stat...you can't damage what you can't hit.
For Heals, you will stack Intellect and Spell Power as a pally.

You can use http://www.wow-heroes.com to check your gear progression, and see what instances you can run. Next to each piece of your gear, it will give you the best and worst enchants for that gear, and it also links to upgrades for each piece so you know what dungeons to run to get the drops. Check it out.

Work on getting geared, run instances constantly, pay attention to what is going on around you and watch your chat window. Learn from other pallys. Watch what they do and copy it. Ask them questions. Most people who play the game aren't dicks and will answer you. When you are geared, we'll run some raids and you will see a whole new WoW open up before your eyes, I promise you Smile
